Wine and food - My favourite combinations

There are some wines that just go brilliantly with different foods.

The problem is, unless we are wine connoisseurs, it can often become a process of trial and error.

So share your experiences, and hopefully we’ll all have more trial, and less error.

Diemersfontein Pinotage (it's the famous Chocolate Pinotage) - Yum!! Try it with a creamy pasta dish (bacon, mushroom, cream fettucini - I also like to add baby marrows for a bit of colour) I also tried it with a chicken schnitzel and (woolies) cheese sauce. Simply delicious!

Shiraz + Extra Dark Chocolate = Heaven on Earth. Makes a wicked chocolate sauce, too.

Try Stellekaya Shiraz 2005/6 with Lindt Classic Dark. Stunning! My favorite remains Stellekaya Merlot paired with Lindt Excellence Dark Pear. Best choc & wine pairing I've ever had and I'm a serious chocoholic! www.stellekaya.com

Recommended: Lievland Estate, Shiraz, 2003 and Lindt 85% dark...bliss! Although that Shiraz is amazing by itself, and some find the Lindt too bitter.
