Breville Compact Wave™ Soft Close

The soft close door is more like a "softer" close door. The option to mute sounds is great. Aside from that it compares similarly to all other microwaves.

The microwave is very easy to use and evenly reheats. The soft close door is significantly better than our previous microwave we had. The jacket potato test recipe came out nicely, the potatoes were evenly cooked through and not soggy

We have replaced our 2 year old LG microwave with the more compact, quieter, sleek looking and simple to use Breville Compact Wave Soft Close. I remember purchasing the LG and thought the larger size was a benefit, but not so!! This compact version looks better on the shelf, but also cooks quicker than the old unit although the wattage is the same. The soft close is a must - who would have thought such a thing was a benefit?! Give the door a gentle push and it closes softly, with no noise to speak of. We have also turned off the sound to the Soft Close, so no buttons making a beeping noise and no reminder noise when cooking is finished - we actually love that too!! The delicious recipe for the stuffed jacket potatoes has become a part of our collection on our website www.champagnefoodonabeerbudget.com.au We cooked it in a Live Feed on Instagram and Facebook. It's a hit. The simple functions and the dial instead of a numbered keypad is an feature awesome as well.

Overall the microwave seems to be built quite well, typical of the Breville brand. The soft close door is perhaps best described as 'softer' close rather than 'soft' close, its certainly quieter than other microwaves but still has that plastic clunk on contact - that being said still a step forward and I wish all microwaves had this feature. LOVE the mute feature to stop the beeps! It heats and cooks well and evenly as tested with baked potatoes but it's down on power so takes noticeably longer. I think you could get similar results on a bigger microwave just not using 100% power (to be tested!) Because of the low power of this microwave things that we want 'quick and dirty' like porridge are now 2 minutes not 90secs, trivial but it does add up when doing batches. If Breville made a larger and more powerful version with all the same functions I'd buy it tomorrow but for now too small and slow for a family. Probably ideal for small apartment/single person.

My experience with the Breville Compact Wave™ Soft Close was positive. It ticked many boxes of the key things that you want in a microwave. Of the better features was the soft close door, especially in a household with young kids, at night time being about to make a cup of hot chocolate and opening the closing the door with ease knowing that I wouldn't wake the kids is definitely a highlight for me. On the topic of my hot chocolate, I love the Hot Beverage shortcut key; it warms my hot drinks to the perfect temperature each time, and I don't have to worry about it boiling over, or being too hot or too tepid. The main use for our microwave is really in reheating food and the Breville Compact Wave™ does this perfectly. I don't have parts of my platters still frozen while other area's are blazing hot, my meals are evenly reheated. I recently cooked stuffed jacket potato and was blown away by the results, these were by far the yummiest and well cooked jacket potatoes I've ever eaten.

The soft close door is amazing. Having kids in the house it is so handy our old unit would be slammed now it just glides itself closed. I have noticed that when reheating food that it in-fact does evenly reheat the food and not leaving the middle or edges cold. I can’t believe I have never cooked this recipe before it evenly heated the potato and melted the cheese to my liking omg this tastes amazing

I was surprised when I automatically went to shut the door it would close with such a quiet and slow shut automatically. This is wonderful as my baby would often wake from the loud banging of the microwave door closing. The microwave has a wonderful ability to heat my food evenly and cook all the food in an equal and even way. My jacket potatoes were a perfect example of this with the potatoes being cooked to perfection all the way through. There were no sections of the potato over or under cooked. My egg mixture was also cooked perfectly with no runny egg bits.

The Breville Compact Wave Soft Close microwave is a fantastic, modern looking and stylish microwave that has performed extremely well. I liked the easy to follow functions and the brushed stainless steel finish. The microwave heats and defrosts evenly and is nice and quiet whilst in use. I also really liked the nice soft close of the door. Another favourite feature was the bright white light inside as this enables you to see in to the microwave easily and monitor how your food is going. My whole family loved the stuffed jacket potato’s made in the microwave. They were easy to prepare, cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We have enjoyed these multiple times now and will continue to make them as they were a hit with the whole family. The only one issue I have with the microwave is I had a large tray of meat to defrost and it was a bit to small to fit it in and so it wouldn’t spin but other than that it’s a great microwave with exceptional features that I would recommend.

Great microwave. Size is perfect for a small kitchen while still big enough to fit a large plate. Soft close door helps when you are heating something while you have a baby napping. The jacket potato was super easy to make and cooked evenly through. The potato texture was as if it had been cooked in the oven and not the microwave. Delicious.

The soft door closing is amazing, i however have found the door isnt closing as easy its gets stuck and doesnt close softley, the prong doesnt go into the slot. The reheating of food is even and nothing comes out cold. Defrosting is even as well and quick. The potatoes came out soft, hot and fluffy and everything was cooked pefectly. I have used the popcorn function and it cooks popcorn to perfection and all of the popcorn is popped. I have reheated beverages in it and i am so satisfied, they come out alot hotter then my old microwave.

We got married in COVID so it was a lovely surprised when we were gifted the Breville soft wave! I love the soft close, sounds so luxurious! It’s beautiful design made it a beautiful addition to our home!

I liked this microwave. It was simple to use and cooked/heated up stuff well. It was a little big but nothing too bad. And it was pretty easy to clean which is a bonus of me as cleaning my old microwave was a hassle.

Breville Compact Wave™ Soft Close is really good. I tried LG, Samsung and some other brand before but I love the Mute functionality. Great product

Great as a compact microwave if you are short on bench or shelf space to put it on. Works really and is very quiet. Very simple to use. Didn’t really like the dial that was more like a volume knob. Would have preferred buttons. Otherwise great.
