I decided to cut my own hair for the first time after receiving this trimmer. I used the 1,2 and 3 guards and also used the fade option to get 1.5 and 2.5 sizes. It took 2 trying to get the blending right, but the wife approved. It's not as good a professional scissor cut but it sure beats waiting in line, taking offf work and paying $35 for a men's haircut. I will try to tackle the dogs hair next time. The trimmer comes with every guard your going to need, a nice cleaning brush, oil and a carrying case. It goes a long way to promoting a good value. It's a little heavy but it's balanced in the hand. It has that very satisfying click when turned on. It feels of high quality and would probably last me a life time considering it's just for home use. I would recommend this trimmer to anyone getting into home barbering.

I like to keep my hair cropped pretty close to my head usually, but it was long when I received this product. It cuts through 3+ inch long hair with relative ease, goes straight through short hair, and cleans up my sideburns and neck. the neverending search for clippers ends here :) last year i had a pair of conair clippers that began to pull and not clip my hair very good so went to a local store and decided to try wahl what a big mistake it pulled/yanked would take me about 25 min to shave my head and hand cramped up with both of those units. back in 2006 i had to have my thyroids removed and a dose of radiation and ever since then if i let my hair grow over a inch it sheds so now i just keep my head shaved and last week i got my andis in the mail and waited til today to test them out and was so shocked how well it buzzed right through my hair (i got thick hair) from start to finish i had no pulling or hand cramping and had it all done in 7 min flat! i will never buy another brand of clippers again Thank You Andis for quality clippers later in summer or fall i'm gonna invest in the more expensive clippers 80-100 dollar range of Andis but will always have these red clippers.
